"Production ceased in here 1994;
Once a thriving production line for the German Reich’s banknotes and treasury papers, not much is now left of the water-powered Paper Mill. Its empty factory floor has on one end been turned into a makeshift caravan-building workshop, the rest into a playground for artists. Among the buildings that skirt the canal is an indoor forest and pond. A lack of roof has created its own ecosystem that softens what once would have been a warehouse."
